Planning a destination wedding is a beautiful adventure, the kind where every detail matters and every decision shapes the experience. Among the most important choices you’ll make is selecting your wedding photographer. Why? Because after the vows have been spoken, the champagne poured, and the dance floor cleared, your photographs will be what remain to tell the story.

As a destination wedding photographer myself, I know just how personal and meaningful this decision is. And I’m here to share everything I’ve learned , not just from behind the lens, but from years of working with couples all over Mexico and around the world.

Here’s how to choose the photographer who will turn your once-in-a-lifetime day into timeless memories:

1. Look for More Than Just Pretty Pictures

Yes, the aesthetic matters. You want someone whose style you connect with, whether that’s romantic and editorial, candid and documentary, or a mix of both. But don’t stop at the highlight reel. Ask to see full wedding galleries. Look at how the photographer tells a story: the transitions, the little details, the real emotions.

Do you feel something when you see the photos? That’s the person you want.

2. Prioritize Connection and Communication

Your photographer will be with you during some of the most intimate and emotional moments of your life. Feeling comfortable and seen is essential.

Choose someone who:

  • Listens deeply

  • Understands your vision

  • Makes you feel at ease (even if you're camera shy)

  • Is responsive, clear, and respectful throughout the process

Personally, I speak Spanish and English fluently, and enough French to connect and communicate comfortably with couples around the world. I always try to speak the language that makes my clients feel most at ease.

3. Choose a Photographer Who Knows How to Travel

Shooting a destination wedding is not the same as photographing a local one. Logistics, light, timelines, even the culture, everything shifts.

I always arrive 1–2 days early for weddings in Mexico, and 2–3 days in advance for weddings abroad. This gives me time to adjust to the light, scout the venue, and make sure no flight delay or last-minute issue ever affects your day. It’s my way of making sure your story is captured smoothly and with intention.

4. Ask the Right Questions

Here are a few questions you should always ask:

  • How many hours of coverage are included?

  • Do you offer welcome dinner or rehearsal coverage?

  • How many images do we receive, and in what format?

  • What’s your backup plan in case of emergency?

5. Make Sure Your Photographer Understands the "Feel" You Want

For me, it’s not just about capturing what your wedding looked like, it’s about capturing what it felt like.

Your grandma’s tearful hug.
The way your partner looked at you during the vows.
The quiet moment before walking down the aisle.

I describe my style as poetic, intimate, and meant to be remembered forever. That’s not just a slogan, it’s my purpose. Make sure your photographer’s approach aligns with your values and vision.

6. Understand What’s Included

Every photographer structures their packages differently. Some include albums, second shooters, or next-day sneak peeks. Others offer add-ons like film photography or extra events. Review what’s included and ask for a guide that outlines:

  • Coverage hours

  • Number of images

  • Turnaround time

  • Travel fees (if any)

  • Online gallery access and print rights

When you work with me, you receive a thoughtfully curated experience, always with unlimited print rights, online galleries, and sneak peeks within 24–48 hours. And yes, travel within Mexico and internationally is always included in my destination collections.

7. Trust Your Gut

Sometimes, it’s not about logic, it’s about intuition. If you feel drawn to someone’s work, energy, and presence, that matters.

Your wedding photos will become part of your legacy. Choose someone who sees you, understands you, and is just as excited about your love as you are.

If you’re dreaming of a destination wedding filled with emotion, elegance, and genuine connection, I’d be honored to tell your story.

Let’s make something unforgettable together.
